Where Fashion Meets the Fairway
Charlie Schaefer spent 13 years at Ralph Lauren, rising to Senior Vice President. He’d played golf at Duke University, worked the floor of a Polo store where Ralph Lauren himself walked in and recruited him, and eventually earned a four-hour meeting in Lauren’s living room in Bedford, New York. In that meeting, Schaefer pitched his vision: a luxury lifestyle brand that treated golf apparel the way Ralph Lauren treated polo — as fashion first, performance as a baseline. Lauren spent two hours brainstorming with him and gave his blessing.
In 2015, Schaefer co-founded Greyson with Morgan Hoffmann, a former World No. 1 amateur golfer, naming the brand after his daughter. They debuted at the Masters Tournament — Hoffmann wore bold botanical prints, camo patterns, and chic pin-dot designs that turned heads on one of golf’s most traditional stages. The message was clear: golf apparel doesn’t have to look like golf apparel. Today, Greyson has crossed $100 million in annual sales. PGA Tour players Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, and Akshay Bhatia wear the wolf logo, and the brand has expanded into women’s golf and lifestyle sportswear — pieces that move from the course to the clubhouse to the street without missing a beat.
