Rag & Bone at Garmany

Founded 2002 · New York City

The Rag & Bone Man

The name comes from the English "rag and bone man" — a figure who traveled neighborhoods collecting and repurposing discarded materials. It's a fitting origin for a brand built on resourcefulness. In 2002, Marcus Wainwright and Nathan Bogle — two Brits who'd met at Wellington College in Berkshire — arrived in New York with no formal fashion training and a singular idea: make well-crafted clothes that they and their friends would actually want to wear every day.

They found a small factory in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, and Wainwright spent 18 months learning the craft of raw selvedge denim production — authentic indigo dyes, selvedge edges, time-honored construction. From that factory floor came the foundation of everything Rag & Bone would become. David Neville, another Wellington alum, joined in 2005 to handle the business side. By 2007 the brand had won the CFDA/Vogue Swarovski Award for Emerging Menswear Talent. By 2010 they'd won CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year. The aesthetic was undeniable: British heritage tailoring — Martin Greenfield suits from Brooklyn, Norton & Sons partnerships from Savile Row — filtered through a distinctly downtown New York sensibility. Form, function, and an edge that never tried too hard.

Signature Denim

The Fit System

Denim is where Rag & Bone started — and it remains the core of the brand. The numbered Fit system simplifies the shopping experience: find your fit once, come back for it every time.

01

Fit 1 — Skinny

The slimmest silhouette. Extra-slim through the hip and thigh with a tapered leg. For those who want a lean, modern profile in premium stretch denim.

02

Fit 2 — Slim

The signature fit. Tailored through the hip, tapered for a clean silhouette — fitting close where it counts and holding shape over time. This is the Rag & Bone jean that built the brand's reputation.

03

Fit 3 — Athletic

A relaxed fit with more room through the thigh, tapering to a clean leg opening. Designed for comfort without sacrificing the brand's signature proportions and premium denim construction.

For Him

Men's Collection

01

Denim

The foundation. Premium selvedge and stretch denim in the Fit 1/2/3 system — from raw indigo to washed finishes. The same commitment to construction that started in a Kentucky factory in 2002.

02

Tailoring & Blazers

Suits and sport coats that bridge Savile Row and the Meatpacking District. Produced in partnership with Martin Greenfield Clothiers in Brooklyn — one of America's most celebrated tailoring operations.

03

Outerwear

Leather jackets, bombers, puffers, and denim jackets. Clean lines, premium materials, and the understated downtown utility that defines the brand's approach to layering.

04

Knitwear & Basics

Merino sweaters, zip knits, premium tees, and button-downs. The everyday pieces that form the backbone of a modern wardrobe — elevated with better fabric, better construction, better fit.

For Her

Women's Collection

01

Denim

Skinny, straight, wide-leg, and cropped silhouettes in premium stretch and rigid denim. The same obsessive attention to wash, weight, and construction that made the brand's name in menswear.

02

The Newbury Boot

The boot that "paved major footsteps for the brand." The updated Newbury 2.0 features the iconic L-shaped seam, slimmer ankle, straighter heel, and Vibram lug sole. A decade-long bestseller, reinvented.

03

Outerwear & Jackets

Leather motos, tailored blazers, bombers, and layering jackets. The same downtown edge as the men's line, cut and proportioned for women who dress for themselves.

04

Knitwear & Ready-to-Wear

Cashmere sweaters, minimalist blouses, shirtdresses, and tailored trousers. Clean silhouettes that move from day to night without changing a thing.
