A Week in Milan: Buying with Intention for Fall/Winter 2026–27

A Week in Milan: Buying with Intention for Fall/Winter 2026–27

Milan during men’s fashion week has a particular rhythm. It’s less about spectacle and more about substance, quiet conversations, fabric laid across tables, silhouettes examined in motion rather than on a runway. For Garmany, this week is never about chasing trends. It’s about refining what lasts.

Throughout the week, Johnell visited some of the most respected menswear showrooms in the world, including Kiton, Ralph Lauren, Colombo and Zegna to name a few.  Each appointment offered insight into the Fall/Winter 2026–27 season, but more importantly, a deeper discussion around craftsmanship, evolution, and the direction of modern luxury menswear.

This season pointed clearly toward refinement with purpose. Italian tailoring remains central, but it continues to evolve, softer construction, more fluid jackets, relaxed trousers, and knitwear playing a larger role in everyday dressing. The collections favored texture, subtle color stories, and fabrics that feel luxurious yet effortless. Its menswear designed to be worn, lived in, and relied upon, not reserved for special occasions.

Johnell’s buying philosophy begins with his clients. Understanding how they live, travel, and dress day to day guides every decision. Rather than focusing on single statement pieces, he looks at complete wardrobes, how sport coats pair with knits, how tailoring works across settings, and how investment pieces hold relevance season after season. Longevity, versatility, and craftsmanship remain non-negotiable.

Beyond the collections themselves, Milan offered valuable conversations with fellow retailers from across the United States and long-standing brand partners. These exchanges reinforced a shared perspective: today’s client values intention over excess and quality over quantity. Luxury, at its best, is built on trust between maker, retailer, and client.

As the week ended, one thing was clear. Fall/Winter 2026–27 is not about reinvention for the sake of change. It’s about thoughtful evolution. Clothing that feels modern yet timeless, confident yet understated.

With Milan complete, the buying journey continues. Next stop: Chicago Market, where the process carries forward with the same focus and discernment, ensuring Garmany clients are always met with the very best in luxury menswear.

The collections will arrive in due time. As always, they’ll be worth the wait.
