In 2008, Alexis Barbara Isaias and her mother Ana Barbara returned from a Mediterranean island-hopping trip with a suitcase full of self-made dresses. The pieces Alexis had designed for the vacation drew so much attention that what began as a personal project became a brand. Working from a home office in Coral Gables — the Miami neighborhood where Alexis was born and raised — mother and daughter built their first Resort Collection together. By the following year, Alexis had landed on the racks at some of the country's most discerning boutiques.

From the start, Alexis Barbara Isaias saw a gap in contemporary women's fashion: too much of it felt cold, overly structured, or inaccessible. She wanted to create pieces that felt romantic and feminine without sacrificing modern edge — clothes rooted in the warmth of her Cuban-American heritage and the multicultural energy of Miami. Intricate lace became the house signature, sourced and detailed with the kind of care usually reserved for evening gowns but applied to everything from daytime maxis to cocktail dresses. Vibrant prints, body-conscious silhouettes, and fabrics that move naturally in warm air completed the vocabulary. Within a few seasons, the brand was in over 250 boutiques and luxury department stores worldwide, from Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to Revolve and Moda Operandi.
