Jacob Cohen at Garmany
Founded 1985 · Veneto, Italy
Couture Standards, Denim Soul
In 1985, Tato Bardelle began making jeans in a workshop in Pontelongo, in Italy’s Veneto region — an area with centuries of textile heritage. What set his approach apart was an unfashionable idea at the time: that denim could be held to the same standards as couture tailoring. In 2003, his son Nicola joined the company and introduced a radical concept — slim, precisely tailored jeans for men that could be worn with a blazer, crossing the boundary between casualwear and the dressed-up world. It was a disruptive move in luxury menswear, and it worked.
Today, shaped by Jennifer Tommasi Bardelle (Nicola’s wife), Jacob Cohen operates in over 700 luxury boutiques worldwide. Each pair requires a minimum of 100 hours to construct from start to finish. The denim is sourced from Japan’s finest Kurabo and Mamarato selvedge mills, then put through 45 distinct processing stages with no chemical intervention — making every pair hypoallergenic and environmentally responsible. And in a detail unique to the brand, each pair is hand-sprayed on the inside with a proprietary patchouli-and-sandalwood fragrance. These are not jeans. They are garments.
The Collection
Selvedge, Tailoring & Fragrance
Men’s Luxury Jeans
The house foundation. Signature five-pocket models — Bard (slim), Scott (straight), Nick (relaxed slim) — crafted from Japanese selvedge denim with Italian tailoring precision. Each pair passes through 45 processing stages and arrives with the brand’s proprietary fragrance.
Tailored Trousers
The same couture construction applied to chinos, wool trousers, and dress pants. For men who discovered Jacob Cohen through denim and want that level of fit and finish across their entire wardrobe.
Women’s Denim
The Jacob Cohen philosophy extended to women’s fits. Japanese selvedge, chemical-free processing, and the same 100-hour construction standard — luxury denim that refuses to compromise on sustainability or craftsmanship.
Outerwear & Knitwear
An expanding collection of jackets, shirts, and knits that complement the denim. Every piece carries the same attention to material sourcing and hand-finished construction.
"Jacob Cohen is an Italian luxury denim manufacturer specializing in premium jeans and trousers. Recognized for artisanal craftsmanship with meticulous attention to detail, premium fabric selection, and designs that balance Italian tailoring with everyday wearability."
